UCESCO is looking for yoga instructors who want to volunteer in Kenya to teach our locals and empower them to be and feel part of the community and create a safe environment to build their life again. This is done by strengthening especially women’s self-confidence by highlighting the skills and competencies they already have and supporting them in acquiring new ones.
Through this project, the women hereby have the opportunity to prepare for their future by finding and believing in their own resources. The project’s activities also support women in finding relationships and building healthy communities.
A part of this curriculum is to help the women be aware of not only their mental wellbeing but also their physical state. The way that we are approaching this is by conducting a Hatha Yoga Class for the women as a group and homestays. The group of women that would be a part of this group have little to no previous experience with Yoga / physical exercise. We are looking for a volunteer to concentrate on slow movements, breathing exercises, and mindfulness.
We imagine that you are a trained yoga teacher and have good pedagogical skills as well as experience teaching with a minimum of 200 hours behind you. You want to contribute, and you have a passion for teaching locals with no knowledge of yoga! As a person you are calm, embracing and with no judgment, and want to work with women who come from a different background than you, and you are passionate about making a difference to the target group or individual.
