About the program
Across many communities in Africa, women are the backbone of families and local economies—yet they often face barriers to financial independence, education, and entrepreneurial opportunities. Loans are rarely given to the poorer people in the community we are serving, as they have no collateral, meaning that they struggle to find ways to escape the poverty trap. Micro-finance is a proven way of not creating millionaires, but increasing the standard of living for those who need the most help. Volunteers play a vital role in mentoring, training, and supporting women to build brighter futures. Your activities may include: 1. Facilitating financial literacy workshops (budgeting, saving, investing) 2. Supporting microfinance and savings groups (table banking, loan tracking) 3. Assisting women in developing small business ideas and plans 4. Providing entrepreneurship and marketing training. 5. Mentoring women and youth in income-generating projects 6. Supporting digital skills training (basic computer use, mobile banking) 7. Assisting in organizing community empowerment events and outreach programs 8. Education & Skill Development (basic English to improve communication and economic prospects). 9. Vocational Training: Deliver training in fields such as tailoring, Beauty and Hairdressing, handicrafts, agricultural techniques, or food processing to create opportunities for income generation 10. Health & Well-being; ( workshops on hygiene, sanitation, reproductive health, and nutrition) 11. Mental Health Support: Establish safe environments for women to share their challenges and receive emotional support. 12. Community Engagement: (Facilitate Women's Groups: Assist in the establishment and operations of women's groups to tackle local challenges, exchange experiences, and obtain resources. 13. Advocacy & Awareness: (Promote understanding of women's rights, gender equality, and the importance of access to education and healthcare.) 14. Resource Mobilization: (Fundraising: Aid in generating funds for particular initiatives, such as constructing a community center or supporting a women's business.
