About the program
Bridge the digital divide by teaching computer literacy, coding, and digital skills to students and community members. Help equip the next generation with the technology skills they need to thrive in a digital world. The Light That Connects a Child to the Digital World In the heart of Nairobi’s informal settlements, thousands of children and youth wake up every day full of dreams—but with limited access to the tools that can help them achieve them. Many have never touched a computer. Many have never used the internet. Yet they live in a world that demands digital knowledge to survive and thrive. At UCESCO Africa, we believe that every child deserves a fair chance in this digital age. We are calling on compassionate, skilled, and purpose-driven volunteers to join us as ICT, Web Design & Digital Skills Training Volunteer Assistants—to help unlock potential, restore hope, and empower a new generation. Why This Mission Matters For a child in an informal settlement, learning how to use a computer is not just a skill—it is a life-changing opportunity. It means: - A chance to access education beyond the classroom - A pathway to future employment and independence - A voice in a connected global world - Confidence to dream bigger than their circumstances Without these opportunities, many young people remain trapped in cycles of poverty and exclusion. With your help, we can change that story. As a volunteer, you will become a mentor, a teacher, and a source of inspiration. You will: - Introduce children and youth to basic computer skills and digital tools - Support web design and creative digital learning in simple, practical ways - Teach digital literacy, internet safety, and responsible technology use - Encourage innovation, curiosity, and confidence among learners - Help create a safe, supportive, and inspiring learning environment Sometimes, your presence alone—your patience, your encouragement—will mean more than the lessons you teach. The Impact You Will Create Imagine a young girl using a computer for the very first time… A boy discovering he can design a website… A group of youth realizing they are capable of building a better future… That is the impact you will be part of. Your contribution will: - Bridge the digital divide in underserved communities - Empower girls and vulnerable youth through technology - Open doors to education, innovation, and employment - Build confidence and self-belief in young minds You don’t need to be perfect—just willing, compassionate, and committed. What You Will Experience This is more than volunteering—it is a journey of purpose and connection. You will: - Experience life within local communities - Learn from the resilience and strength of the people you serve - Build meaningful relationships and unforgettable memories - Grow personally and professionally - Leave knowing you made a real, lasting impact A Call from the Heart Somewhere in Nairobi, a child is waiting—not just for education, but for someone to believe in them. That someone could be you. - Join us. Share your skills. Change a life. Build a future.
