Across the coastal regions of Mombasa, Malindi, and Kilifi, thousands of women and young people wake up each day with dreams—but without opportunities. Limited access to education, unemployment, and poverty continue to hold them back from building a better future. At UCESCO Africa, we believe that skills are power—and that a single opportunity can transform not just one life, but an entire family. Fashion and tailoring are more than creative expressions—they are practical, income-generating skills that can break the cycle of poverty. By equipping women and youth with these skills, we empower them to: - Start small tailoring businesses - Create school uniforms and garments for their communities - Earn sustainable income - Gain dignity, independence, and confidence Your time and expertise can help turn hidden talent into livelihoods As a Fashion Design & Tailoring Technology Volunteer Assistant, you will: - Train and mentor women and youth in basic to advanced tailoring skills - Teach pattern making, garment construction, and fabric handling - Introduce creative fashion design techniques - Support hands-on practical sessions and workshops - Encourage entrepreneurship and small business development - Inspire confidence and self-reliance among participants Whether you are a professional designer, tailor, student, or simply passionate about fashion—you can make a lasting impact.
