In the arid and semi-arid lands of northern Kenya lies the culturally rich and resilient community of Samburu County. For generations, the Samburu people have preserved a deeply rooted pastoralist way of life shaped by tradition, environmental challenges, and limited access to formal economic opportunities. Within this context, Samburu women have long carried the invisible backbone of the community—raising children, managing households, and sustaining family survival—often with very limited access to education, income-generating skills, or financial independence. Historically, many women have depended on livestock-based livelihoods controlled largely by men, leaving them vulnerable during droughts, economic shocks, and climate instability. Yet, despite these challenges, Samburu women are known for their extraordinary strength, resilience, and cultural pride. When given the opportunity, they quickly transform skills into survival, and survival into progress. This volunteer program is designed to support Samburu women in transitioning from vulnerability to empowerment through practical skills training and sustainable livelihood development. We are seeking committed international and local volunteers to join hands with communities in building long-term, women-led economic independence. Your contribution will not be temporary assistance—it will be part of a lasting transformation.
