SUCCESS STORIES

Building Schools

Education is key to escape a lifetime of poverty in our communities.

We believe that under no circumstance should a child be subjected to an undesirable school environment. In the communities we are serving, children struggle to choose between enjoying their right to education and staying safe. They are forced to study in deplorable conditions and squeeze in tiny and often temporary structured classrooms, unable to withstand harsh weather and rain, while sharing scarcely available resources with classmates.

When GEM Wellington School from the United Arab Emirates visited Kenya, one of the schools was at the verge of closure affecting a majority of the children who solely depend on our free education and meals.

The GEM Wellington, under supervison of Jonathan, provided clothes, food, and constructed two classrooms and were rewarded with tears and huge smiles from the more than grateful grateful children. Their work gives our unprivileged children hope.

Hope makes things possible and hope keeps the children moving forward.

Lives changed

Cathy Keyla, a 17 years old and an orphan, is one of the beneficiaries of our School program, and captain of UCESCO Panthers Rugby Club.

“This school gives me hope and makes me feel I have a family. There was too much skipping of lessons because of the state of the school  but now our school looks beautiful”.

The school has three new classes and the kitchen, latrines, and library will also be improved, more comfortable desks, studying areas, a playground, and more books for revision.

Cathy: “Now I am happy I will continue to pursue my dream”.

Education is the best gift to help protect from exploitation, abuse, (mental) health risks, unwanted pregnancies, and early marriages.

EDUCATION

Our 5-year vision includes training the students in marginalized areas and urban slums, especially girls, to gain education and skills through the Competency Based Curriculum.

We aim for schools to acquire international status, whereby students are able to travel internationally – either in academia or in sports.

We also expect to enroll over 5000 students from the community to reduce the illiteracy rate, to provide a positive impact on children’s lives, and strive to empower them to become role models in their communities.
